Guardrail

A hard rule enforced around the model, outside its judgment: never reveal personal data, never promise refunds, always refuse medical dosage questions. The model can't talk its way past a guardrail — that's the point.

Why it matters: prompts are requests; guardrails are locks. Anything that absolutely must not happen needs a guardrail, not a politely worded instruction.
