Relationship Design

Designs repeat-use assistants around visible memory, earned trust, correction, and the user’s right to forget.

The problem

Why it exists

A useful assistant may remember too little to improve or too much for the user to feel safe. Relationship Design treats memory, permission, and growing autonomy as parts of the interface that people should be able to see and control.

The approach

How it helps

  • Maps what may be remembered, how it can be corrected or forgotten, and how trust changes over repeated use.
  • Designs gradual delegation and recovery paths so the product does not quietly take more control.

Use it when

A good fit when...

  • Assistants used repeatedly
  • Products where trust must grow gradually
